The FRCC is seeking comments on all matters pertaining to the conservation of groundfish stocks in the Gulf of St Lawrence. The following items are provided as examples of information the Council is seeking on these stocks:
- The potential for stock growth and recovery.
- The potential for bridging the apparent gap between the scientific analysis and the views of the fishing industry.
- How shared stewardship and accountability might best be fostered.
- The uncertainty respecting the scientific assessments.
- A risk managed approach to balance short and long-term trade-offs.
- Impediments to recovery, including biological and operational considerations.
- Other conservation measures.
Stakeholders are encouraged to make public presentations at the meetings or provide a written brief to the FRCC at P.O. Box 2001, Station D, Ottawa, ON K1P 5W3, fax (613) 998-1146, internet www.frcc-ccrh.ca.
I thank you for your interest in the consultation process.
